Favorite Things ‘07

If Oprah can have entire shows dedicated to her favorite things, I’m entitled to have a few my own, right? I don’t have any prizes to give away, but perhaps you’ll walk away with some new things to check out. Here are some great products I discovered in 2007.

Aveda Deep Cleansing Herbal Clay Masque: Aveda’s all natural skin care is the best! This mask is one of my favorite Aveda products because it absorbs excess oil and leaves my skin looking and feeling beautiful. It’s also a great bargain because a little bit goes a long way, so it lasts quite a while.

Bare Esscentuals Mineral Cosmetics: My mother introduced me to this line of cosmetics a few years ago and I’ve been a fan ever since. It’s a great all natural, mineral based cosmetic. My favorite Bare Esscentuals products include Buzz Latte for Lips and The Eyebrow Kit.

Ben and Jerry’s Dublin Mudslide: One night JT made a quick trip to the local mini-mart for some ice cream and returned with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s Dublin Mudslide for me. I had never tasted it before, but after one spoonful I was hooked! Who can resist Irish Cream Liqueur ice cream with chocolate chip cookies and a coffee fudge swirl? Yum!

Crystal Light On The Go Packets: I’m trying to increase my daily intake of water, but sometimes plain water can be quite bland, so I picked up a box of Crystal Light On The Go packets. One skinny packet added to a 16 ounce bottle of water transforms the beverage into something flavorful and refreshing. They come in a several different flavors, are sugar free, and have only 5 calories per packet.

Garmin C550 Street Pilot: What a great gadget! This navigation unit is perfect for those who don’t have cars preloaded with a GPS. Colorful maps, detailed driving directions, and Bluetooth hands free phone capabilities make it a keeper.

Letra Tag QX50 Label Maker: This is a terrific little machine to have at home! Whenever I need to label something (spice jars, storage boxes, folders, etc.) this hand-held gadget does the trick. It’s well priced and very easy to use! Love it, love it, love it!

Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover: This is the most effective product I’ve found for removing eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara with ease. No greasy, smeary residue!

Measurement Equivalent Fridge Magnet: Earlier this year, my cousin and I were shopping at Kitchen Capers and I picked up this handy heavy duty magnet. For me, it’s a kitchen a “must have”. I do a lot of cooking and these quick glance measurement equivalents are a great resource for a chef wanna-be like me.

Method Cleaning Products: Biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products are all the rage and Method products are some of the best. They are affordable, effective cleaners that come in a variety of scents (cucumber, grapefruit, ylang-ylang, lavender). Method products are environmentally friendly and are safe for use around children. I purchase them at Target, but I’ve spotted Method products in the larger supermarket chains as well.

Nature’s Miracle Stain and Odor Remover: The girls’ Godparents have two adorable dogs and they use this product to remove stains from the carpet. We don’t have dogs, but we have two messy preschoolers and we’ve found that Nature’s Miracle removes juice and other stains from clothing. It can be purchased at PetSmart.

One Step Ahead Shampoo Visor: Most of my girls’ hairwashing worries disappeared once I started using a shampoo visor. This simple foam visor prevents water and shampoo from running into their eyes. I purchased mine from One Step Ahead and never wash the girls’ hair without it.

Pampered Chef Suds Pump: I love foaming handwashes, but find they run out quickly and are not cost effective. Recently, a friend introduced me to The Suds Pump by Pampered Chef. Simply fill the bottle with a small amount of liquid soap and a larger amount of water. Screw on the top and pump away. Viola!…foaming hand soap!

Plantronics Voyager 510 Headset: I’m a cell phone addict and I rarely leave the house without mine. Since I’m usually holding my children’s hands or pushing a stroller or grocery cart, hands free talking is must! It fits in my ear perfectly and delivers great sound quality.

XOXO Girl on the Go Backpack Purse: When I’m out and about with the girls, I need to have free hands, so this stylish backpack purse is perfect for me. It’s large enough to carry around all the things a busy wife and mom needs (my organizer, a cosmetics bag, 3 different Epi pens, 2 changes of clothes, a cell, GPS, plus drink boxes and snacks) but small enough to be comfortable. Girl On The Go Backpacks come in a few different colors to fit your mood and wardrobe.

Yankee Candle Car Gel Air Fresheners: This is not a run of the mill cardboard air freshener! Yankee Candle has unleashed the next generation of air fresheners and they smell just as great as Yankee Candles. The gels come in twenty different scents, so I think you’ll find one you enjoy.
